148 Toot Toot - Photograph

1917 Passenger Train Wreck - Photograph
In 1917, curious residents of Jefferson County, Montana, along with a detachment of soldiers, investigated the wreck of the Great Northern passenger train No. 238. The smoker car was hanging off the bridge, and the boilerplate was found nearly 100 feet away on the hillside. There were rumors that the wreck had been caused by German sabotage, but an investigation revealed that the actual cause of the accident was excess speed.
