-Folder 4 : 1922 Elkhorn-Bull Moose #2 Quartz Claim (ORIGINAL) Notice of Location Document Names: John Rothfus and Hans Espendahl 8.5"x14" SUMMARY: This collection contains mainly information about mining in the Elkhorn and Radersburg areas by John Rothfus and his family. Papers date from 1904-1962. Collection includes assay reports, ore receipts, mining claim locations, and family papers. Many items refer to business activities of the Golden Curry Mining Group in Elkhorn, discovered by Rothfus and containing the following mines: Golden Curry, Sourdough, Jacquiem. DONOR: Likely Louisa Rothfus, according to Sherry Carlson. (No gift agreement found); Louisa (1914-2009)was the daughter of John Rothfus, Sr. About John Rothfus: John Rothfus (1868-1944) was a prominent and active miner in both the Elkhorn and Radersburg areas in the early 1900s, primarily from about 1900 until 1944. John and his family resided in Elkhorn, Radersburg and Helena. RECOMMEND further inventory of this collection, including providing each original document with it’s own accession number.
