Minnie Muriel Westover, 88, of Clancy, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2010, at St. Peter's Hospital with her children and grandchildren by her side. Muriel, born Jan. 18, 1922, in Shelbina, Mo., was the fourth child of Samuel Laverne and Mary Edna Pike Johnson. The family moved to Montana in the late 1920s. Muriel attended school at Lakeside, Helena and Clancy. She met the love of her life, Walter A. Westover, and they married in 1938. Walter and Muriel were blessed with five children: Minnie Edna, Gene, Arlieta, Carolyn and Lorretta. Muriel worked for several years at the Parrot Confectionary in Helena. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, gardening, crocheting, quilting, camping, fishing, boating and spending time with friends and family. She was always ready for a good game of cards. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #10010 Women's Auxiliary in East Helena; Helena Senior Citizens; Rebakah Lodge #5, and the Clancy Methodist Church. Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, Laverne and Edna; husband, Walter; sister, Lavera Lagle; brothers, Olin and Edwin Johnson; son, Gene; daughter, Minnie Edna; son-in-law, Jerome Woodward; and grandson, Walter Woodward. Left to celebrate her life are daughters, Arlieta (Don) Holshue, Carolyn Woodward and Lorretta (Rick) Strobel; daughter-in-law, Mary Westover; sisters, Clara Johnson Robinson of Purita Gorda, Fla., and Oline Albright of St. Louis, Mo; grandchildren, Kim (JK) Weiss, Tempe, Ariz., Kevin (Natalie) Holshue, Las Vegas, Kelly (Diana) Holshue, Helena, Ken Holshue, Richland, Wash., Myrle (Mike) Cunis, Ashland, Mass., Kelley Woodward, Rapid City, S.D., Chine Strobel, Clancy, Rick (Kassi) Strobel, Helena and Oliver Westover, Helena; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. --Findagrave.com |
