A black and white photo postcard of an annex stone building that was next to the Carlson Hotel in Basin with six ladies and girls, a child and a dog; the hotel is no longer in existence, but the annex building is still standing. Back of postcard is blank, other than museum identification. Date: c1915 - More research needed to determine date -1912-1918: Common production of personal photos as postcards -Cothing styles may help better identify date Bill Carlson, donor of this card, was a Bernice rancher and charcoal producer, spending most of his life in the area. He followed in his father, Charlie and grandfather's, Oscar, footsteps. Oscar homesteded in Bernice in 1895. Bill went to grade school in both Bernice and Basin. He graduated from Jefferson H.S. Bill was the father of Gary Carlson of Clancy. |
