Black and white photo postcard of Boulder Girl, Marie Barteau Aspengren at about 12 years old, with a dog and a man (possibly her father); white border; handwritten label on back. Date: c1915(Research needed to confirm this is Marie, possibly with ther father.) -Stamp Boc: VELOX-1907-1917 (4 diamonds) -Back of card-handwritten note says "Marie Aspengren on left"; appears about 12. Bio: Marie Barteau Aspengren (1903-1989) was a life-long Boulder resident. Her parents Beckwith and Frances Barteau arrived in Boulder by 1892. Beck was engaged as a blacksmith, miner, and garage owner. In 1928, Marie married Arthur Aspengren (1901-1973). The couple ran the Boulder Drug Store for 25 years, from 1928-1953. (Museum pharmacy artifacts). |
