Scope & Content |
The brands contained herein were complied by Donna McCauley Gilmer in 1994 for the Edward Ryan Family Reunion of which she is a descendant. Made of paper, the brands were mounted on large pieces of cardboard and hung in the the white loafin barn at the Jefferson County Recreation Park for years. Over this time time many had mildew, wrinkles and tears throughout making for interesting copy. The photocopy is made from a copy at the Heritage Center in Boulder. Their copy is one from Marilyn McCauley. It contains an alphabetical index of names. A section on how to read brands, select pages from the Directory of Marks and Brands for the State of Montana 1872 to 1900. Complete classified directory of Sheep and Wool Growers published by Van Dersal and Conner, Helena, Montana; county maps of Braodwater and Jefferson Countes are included along with other related lists and pages. This box of information was compiled by Paul Backlund in Spring of 2020. He included: start of a revision with table of contents; page number appendices, incex and references; updates from Brand Register, available from MHS online/ references to Ed Ryan and Olive Hagadone's book, Boulder Its Friends and Neighbors (pages 4, 37, 44, 68). |
